Dear IC Families,

I want to thank our Monte Carlo planning committee, PTO, Room parents, parents and guests for making our fundraiser a wonderful success. We all had a great time and raised money to help with our school expenses. Recently we had a Monte Carlo follow up meeting and we began making plans for next year.  If you would like to share any feedback, please send me an email at clovano@icschoolmonrovia.org. Save the Date! We are already looking at Feb. 28, 2018 for our next fun filled casino night. We guarantee it will be even bigger and better!  Thanks again for all your support.

Congratulations to our Lucky 7 Winners!

  • Auction Baskets Laura Ranches, Regina Gregario, Joaquin Chavez, Alex Castaneda
  • $100 winners Vianca Vasquez, Cesar Gutierrez
  • $500  (grand prize winner) Shane Samuels

It’s time to register for the 2017-18 school year. Enclosed is the tuition agreement for next year. If you register by March 31, you can lock in the 2016-17 tuition prices. After March 31, you will be paying the 2017-2018 rate.  We are excited our enrollment is slowly but surely increasing. I know we can do this.  If you know anyone interested, please refer him or her to our school. If they register, you will receive $100 credit toward your fees.  We are especially looking for incoming first graders, so please help us by reaching out to any families that presently have kindergartners.

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the holy season of Lent. When asked why parents choose Catholic Schools, the first answer is about sharing our faith. As a Catholic School we want to partner with our school parents to help our students experience their faith.  Being Catholic is not a lesson in school. It is our live style. It is a part of everything we do and say. During Lent we invite all families to search deeper into their faith. At school we are committed to teaching your children about our Catholic faith, but they need to see it in your homes as well.  Included in today’s family envelope is some information regarding fasting and Lenten observances. There are also suggestions of actions to expand our faith experience at home and school.  We at Immaculate Conception School want to increase our faith and strongly encourage weekly Sunday Mass attendance. It is very easy to find reasons to miss mass—unfortunately too easy.  We are encouraging all families to commit to going to mass every Sunday especially during Lent.  You may attend at any parish at any time.  Each child is asked to bring a church bulletin to share on Monday.  We are trying to go deeper into our faith. Please be just – do not just pick up a bulletin without attending Mass and send it to school. Think about the inappropriate message you are teaching your child. In today’s packet there is a commitment form for you to review. Please sign and return by this Friday, March 3.

Also included in today’s family envelope is a Lenten calendar and an opportunity to donate to Catholic Relief Services through the Rice Bowl program. This is optional. Fr. Randy encouraged all of us to sign up at BestLentEver.com/Lent for spiritual nourishment.

Our students spent the afternoon with Faith Families participating in Lenten activities.  Please join us every Friday at 11:30 for the Stations of the Cross.

There is a program called More for Moms at St. Joseph Campus offered by the Carmelite Sisters. See Flyer for more information. All of these opportunities encourage us to grow in our faith.

Today’s Family envelope is filled with multiple reminders and offers.

It is time to apply for financial aid. ONLY families that complete the CEF form will be considered for any financial aid. The process has changed and CEF is offering interviews and schools have experienced improved results. If you are interested in an interview with a Catholic Education Foundation representative for financial aid call Ana at (626) 358-5129 to schedule an appointment. All interviews are held at Bishop Amat on March 20 between 12:00 and 2:15. If you cannot attend please send completed applications with required documents to our school office by Friday, March 31.

The Spring portraits are for purchase. Please send payment for any pictures you want to purchase. Please return immediately if you are not interested.

IC snack cards are always available for purchase. Each card is valued at $10.00 and students can purchase snacks or fruit bars.
