Dear IC Families,

We hope you are staying cool. We have been watching the temperatures carefully and are limiting our students’ time outside. Fortunately our classrooms are air-conditioned and we look forward to cooler days.

The heat is a minor inconvenience compared to what is happening with Hurricane Harvey. On Friday we invite all students to wear free dress for a minimum $2 donation. Please be generous, donate as much as you can and we will contribute this money to help those in need. We ask you to join in prayers too for all the first responders, families, medical staff and all those impacted.

Free Dress Guidelines for TK-8th Grade: T-shirt designs must represent a positive image at all times. No short shorts, spaghetti straps or backless/shoulderless blouses. No ripped pants. Students will need to call home for their school uniform and permanently lose the free dress privilege if they choose to violate free dress guidelines.

P.E. days will continue to be on Tuesday and Thursday every week so students may wear P.E. clothes all day. Wednesday is our Mass day so students are required to wear white shirt/blouse with tie.  Monday and Friday, unless designated a free dress day, the students wear the uniform with polo.

Through the year we offer as many opportunities as possible to help raise funds for our school.  Each month we send home an AVON brochure. You may buy all your favorite products and share the brochure with friends and family. For every $40 purchase you can earn one service hour.  All pre-paid orders must be placed by September 20.

We are looking forward to BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT next Thursday, September 7 from 6-9. We will have a lot of information to share. Please plan on attending this meeting.

We are looking forward to our 95th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, October 21.  All families are required to purchase two $75.00 tickets. Please invite friends and family, as this is a major fundraiser for our school.  At this time we are accepting donations for our auction baskets. Please donate entertainment tickets, timeshares, new gift items, and any items that we can enjoy.  We will save our class baskets and projects for our Monte Carlo Night on February 24. Our Gala will recognize the history of Immaculate Conception School and we are blessed to have Bishop O’Connell as our Keynote Speaker.  We are reaching out to adult IC Alumni to share pictures and stories.  If you are still in touch with former IC families please invite them to join our celebration.

All volunteers that come in contact with our students must be fingerprinted and have completed the Virtus: Safeguard the Children class. We will be offering this class on September 25 from 6-9PM

After Labor Day, we will begin our hot lunch program. We will offer hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza for a fee. It is simply an option.  More information will be coming soon.

Every Wednesday we will be selling bread, cookies, muffins and more after school.  Buy as much as you would like for however much you choose to donate. Money collected will go towards school projects.

Please sign up your Ralph’s grocery card to donate to our school. Each year you must renew your charity selection after Sept. 1. Please collect BoxTops for Education. All these little things add up and help our school.

Parents: ALWAYS check in with the office to sign in as a visitor before you go to the classrooms. We keep records of who is on our campus at all times.

Dismissal is at the gate. Drive carefully as you enter the parking lot. Your child’s safety is EVERYONE’S priority.

Last week I included GREAT NEWS in our family envelope. Our school was awarded the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Catholic School and our church was voted Best Place of Worship. This is quite an honor and it will be published in all the local papers on August 31. Please help us share the news when we post it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Thank you all for your constant support.

Picture Day is September 13. Students wear mass uniform.  During Spring pictures the students may wear free dress.

Pre-paid Snack Cards are available in the school office for $10. Students may use these to buy snacks at recess or lunch.

God bless! Enjoy the long Labor Day weekend!
