Welcome to the Eighth Home Page!
Hello!
My name is Carlos Loaiza, Sr. and I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher, as well as the Social Studies and Religion teacher for the junior high department. I am a proud father of two children, Elaine-24 and Carlos Jr.-19. I have a total of 21 years teaching experience within the Archdiocese, having taught pre-kinder through 8th grades; however, most of my teaching has been done in the upper grades, particularly with 8th grade.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science and hold certifications in CLA Logistics and CAL/OSHA. In addition to teaching, I have been an administrator (9 years in the capacities of Dean of Students and Vice Principal) and a WASC Head Organizer (team leader and have accredited several schools). I have also been a coach (18 years coaching football, basketball, track & field, baseball and volleyball) and a referee – both certified through the Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). Lastly, I have a military background with the United States Coast Guard, which serves as the backbone of my classroom’s disciplinary methods.
For all that we face on a daily basis, I hold God as my main source of strength and courage in everything that I do in and out of the classroom. I have a strong catholic faith and believe that we all have a purpose in life! I am the prodigy of a catholic school education beginning from the 3rd grade and into my high school years. I am an active Eucharistic minister and have a Catechist certificate in teaching the young children of today about our Faith.
My main goal for this school year is for the students to find passion in their new discoveries throughout the social studies and religion subjects and to be excited as they use technology and public speaking skills to relay this information to others. With the knowledge acquired, I also challenge my students to convey the Gospel’s message in all that they do and find ways to become stewards of our Faith in becoming the best that they can be!
I look forward to an exciting 2014-2015 school year.
God bless,
